The Geothermal Therapy industry is facing several challenges because of a lack of education. Under educated Practitioners have caused serious third degree burns on innocent clients. GTA was born from a need to protect our clients and employers as well as the insurance industry that covers our profession. Uniform criteria established by GTA promotes increased safety and professionalism. GTA is committed to the necessities which include the following:

  • Knowledge of contraindications (temperature added to massage, increases RISK factors!)

  • Professional heating appliances (stones can burst INJURING practitioners and clients if improperly heated!)

  • Stones with suitable surface textures (skin DAMAGE encourages bacterial infections!)

  • Safe hygiene practices (cross contamination from client to client increases RISK of bacterial infections!)

  • Effective sanitation processes (only approved antibacterial agents will support SAFE sanitation)

  • Skillful application modalities (various temperatures REQUIRE knowledgeable application procedures)

  • A profession-specific code of ethics (FALSE claims by non-professional crystal and gem workers damage reputations)

  • Board Certification (PROVES prior knowledge of all safety protocol to protect educators, employers and insurance companies from the negligent practitioner)

A wise man thought --  "If there was a way to bring attention to safety practices, while having people attend courses led by well-educated 'Stone Walkers', then the world would benefit from new 'Legends of the Stones'."

He feared that improperly educated 'pebble pushers' might cause this amazing healing modality to become entangled in legal issues. Currently there are law suits filed in the US due to burn injuries received by clients who were treated improperly by uneducated, novice hands. Several out breaks of MRSA in the spa industry, due to improper sanitation practices have closed the doors on profitable businesses.

This wise man's thoughts gave birth to the idea for this Association.
